Let Loose Upon Lollapalooza, Day 1

Lollapalooza 2007, Day 1Since its rebirth in 2005 as Chicago’s very own “destination music festival,” Lollapalooza has put on a good show. But, this year… it’s finally set to put on a great show. Our lineups will go toe-to-toe with anybody else’s worth mentioning (Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, Coachella or Sasquatch). Not that we wouldn’t have loved to have gone to any of those (who doesn’t like to rock-it afar?); it’s just so much easier to hop on the Brown Line to Grant Park.

Berksclusives® from the festival grounds, Son Volt, The Polyphonic Spree, Silversun Pickups, The Black Keys and Daft Punk follow. And yes, as everyone is saying, Daft Punk was simply not to be missed. (Of course, with only 5-6 known photos of them, it’s not like we actually recognized the dynamic duo in their robotic suits.)

Festival Grounds and Hideout’s Lollapalooza After-Party
Damn hot… but not hot enough to call it a day. (And, unlike 2005’s heat wave, nobody was hospitalized. Bonus level!)

And so it begins... Buckingham Fountain is ready We all float on... Love those wristbands The eye sees all Work and play Rally point What could this be? Kidzapalooza It's nice to have options Sticker/pin-tastic Small Paul silkscreening So choice The calm before the storm Sweet home, Chicago Mist-ical Machine So... relaxing Here for m.o.e.? Daft Punk
Performed Lollapalooza’s first night’s closing set. And when I say “performed,” I mean per-MF’ing-formed. I haven’t read one review or entry not putting this show in anyone’s “top five shows of all time.” Thanks to FOBs tammylo, I’ve Gone Slightly Mad…, tacvbo and Jabzg for sharing some snapshots.

“We gonna celebrate…”
