Let Loose Upon Lollapalooza, Day 3

Let Loose Upon Lollapalooza, Day 3After being transported to a rave in what seemed like the year 10007 A.D. during Daft Punk’s set at Lollapalooza this past Friday night… we had to take all of Saturday to get back. (Galactic travel on the weekends can be so slow.) Sunday, and the “clear vision” it brought with it, eventually came; and we were finally ready to give Lollapalooza 2007 a proper send-off.

Our swan song consisted of: Rodrigo y Gabriela (rep’ing my hometown, el D.F.), Amy Winehouse, Iggy and the Stooges, Modest Mouse (great website, BTW) and Pearl Jam. Being all the way up in the second row for Modest Mouse and then having to get clear over to Pearl Jam afterwards presented a small problem… so we just ended up climbing a tree on Grant Park’s sidelines to enjoy our old college-radio friends Mookie Blaylock PJ.

Festival Grounds
Take Friday’s heat, add Saturday’s humidity… and end up with Sunday’s sauna.

Back for more... We'll take a look Blue goes green Cooler heads prevail

Iggy challenged the “stooges” in the audience to push their way onto the stage and “have some fun” during No Fun at Lollapalooza in Grant Park (Bud Light Stage 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM) on Sunday, August 5, 2007. Ten security guards were simply no match for over one hundred “stooges.” In a related story: Lollapalooza officials were not amused.

Modest Mouse
Finally able to get up close to an act we really dig (pimpin’ pushing ain’t easy).

“Oh, please just last…”

Pearl Jam
Performed Lollapalooza’s closing set for 2007. Really brought their old vibe back, too. (Made it seem like just yesterday that Wik, Kimble and I saw them at the Aragon Ballroom with the Smashing Pumpkins [semi-boo’ed off the stage as the opener]… as part of only 200+ in attendance, in 1991.) Thanks, yet again, to FOBs tammylo and I’ve Gone Slightly Mad… for sharing some snapshots (just like on Friday).

“Son, she said, have I got a little story for you…”
